Throwback Uniform picture on US Navy Uniform article

Good call on the picture. Looks good... I just hope that we go with them. Now if I can just get time to clean the REST of the article up and get some actual pics of the NWU and NSU instead of the Task Force Uniform proposal pics! Supersquid (talk) 03:42, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. I think it'd look better with 4 buttons and drop the sewn in belt, but yeah it is a nice design (they should have done the pictures with the normal cover/hat instead of the Garrison hat though) Dr. Stantz (talk) 17:12, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Rabbs Ribbons

Actually, I used Adobe Photoshop CS to organize the ribbons and adding the award/campain stars. Neovu79 (talk) 06:20, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Pilot (1985)

# Title Original airdate Production code

The unaired pilot promo was a 4 minute concept demonstration showing designs for the characters, equipment and the overall premise of the show. This dialog free short was set to the song "Ghostbusters", performed by John Smith and was the only time the song was used in its entirety. This was made available to the public for the first time on a bonus disc that accompanied the Time Life DVD release of the Real Ghostbusters.

CD ribbon

Hi - The image of the Canadian Forces Decoration ribbon that you've placed on all the Governors General's bio pages is of an inconsistent size with all the other ribbons. I just a few days ago went to the effort of making sure all the ribbons shown there were identical in length and width. Could you please adjust your new image to suit? Cheers. --Ħ MIESIANIACAL 01:56, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

I hope you don't mind, but I get confused by split conversations - I find it easier when all of the conversation is in the one place. Hence, I've merged in the stuff from User talk:PalawanOz#Australia Military Ribbons.
If you do mind, feel free to revert. Pdfpdf (talk) 10:46, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

(User talk:PalawanOz#)Australia Military Ribbons

I just wanted you to know I updated some of your uploaded ribbons pictures. I used the picture of the actual medal/ribbon from the pages and from here to get slightly more accurate colours and tweaked the CSC, CSM and RFM with rosette design.

I also plan to update the Defence Force Service Medals, Reserve Force Decoration, and the medals as well.

Just thought I'd explain to avoid hurt feelings, some people on Wikipedia can be a bit rude.

DFSM

Hi. The blue is better, but the "yellow" looks a bit dark to me. The colours on CSC/CSM don't quite seem "right", either. I'm not enthusiastic about the colours used for the long service medals on this page. To me, these look better. Your thoughts? Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 12:51, 6 September 2009 (UTC)reply

The "yellow" looks more orange to me, when I compared your suggestion to mine the lighter sections were near identical to the current image, although the darker sections or the orange were darker on mine. It does look a bit better than the previous bright yellow don't you think? Dr. Stantz (talk) 17:18, 6 September 2009 (UTC)reply
"It does look a bit better than the previous bright yellow don't you think?" - Probably. (I'm not sure.) I agree that the "right" colour is not bright yellow, but I think it is more yellow than orange. I admit that I'm not completely surprised by your observation; I'm not the colour-matching-expert that either you or PalawanOz are ...
This week I'll look at some "real" ones on people's chests, and try to get a better feel for what the "real" colour is. (Fortunately for me, there aren't many uniformed women with such ribbons, so I won't be risking getting accused of staring at women's chests ... ;-) Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 18:32, 6 September 2009 (UTC)reply
Australia Military Ribbons
Thanks for the heads up :) Only thing I would say is that the ribbons looks a little 'foggy' to me - like I'm looking at them through a cloud? The AASM and ASM are definitely a little brighter in person. The images here are also fairly subdued compared to the real ones (comparing to one I've got in front of me) PalawanOz (talk) 12:48, 8 September 2009 (UTC)reply

Gents - I didn't get the original colours (bright yellow and blue) from an online source - I scanned in an actual ribbon and used the colours from it. The current colours you have used come across as 'light orange' and 'medium blue' to me, and don't look like the actual ribbon. Same goes for the AASM. As I said on my Talk page - the new colours look too muted to me - like they are being looked at through a fog/cloud. PalawanOz (talk) 12:57, 8 September 2009 (UTC)reply
Small DFSM sample size so far, but current results: Yellow=2; Orange=0 Pdfpdf (talk) 14:01, 8 September 2009 (UTC)reply
I used the Australian government website pdfpdf mentioned here. For most I used the picture of the medals found on the article pages like this one:
File:Defence Long Service Medal (Australia).png
I copied the image to paint, sampled the colours and used those. If the colours are yellower not orangier (that's not a real word, is it?) then I'd suggest we try to get better photos of the medals while we are at it. PalawanOz did you do the others the same way as well? How are the others? I've seen pics of the CSC and CSM that look brown olive drab, deep green, etc.
<od>(Minor point: "I used the Australian government website pdfpdf mentioned" - I mentioned it because it was the site you mentioned in your the initial correspondence with PalawanOz. Pdfpdf (talk) 10:46, 9 September 2009 (UTC))reply
(Second minor point: The medal image is only licensed to appear on Defence Long Service Medal - The "Wikipedia Copyright Police" will get very upset if you use it here! Hence, I've turned it into a link. :-)
More later - ("She who must be obeyed") has called. Pdfpdf (talk) 10:46, 9 September 2009 (UTC)reply

Ribbon with Rosette(s)

  • - 30 years
  • - 35 years

Ribbon with Federation Star

"then I'd suggest we try to get better photos of the medals while we are at it." - Agree.
At this point, having nothing further to add to the conversation, I think I will gracefully withdraw. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 12:12, 9 September 2009 (UTC)reply
